Weddings

Ange and I attenede her cousin's wedding on Saturday evening. We took Maizey with us because this is what the Portuguese do. It was a great time. Maizey had lots of fun dancing with her cousins, aunts and uncles. There were several comments about how much Mai looks like Angela. I love that! Everybody knows there is no biological link, but they insist that they look alike.
Ange and I haven't got too far with planning our own wedding. We aren't in a hurry to get married, but will within the next two years. Truth be told, there is just too much "up in the air" right now to be making decisions.
We are considering a few options though. Destination wedding? Wedding up north? Simple ceramony with witnesses only - followed by a BBQ in the yard?
We know however that we at this point don't want "traditional".
We don't want to do formal. I know a lot of people enjoy dressing up in their best and most glamorous clothes, but it's just not us. What matters to us is that we want to have a good time and remember the day!
We have some really fun ideas that we want to incorperate and are really hoping they come to fruition.
Another thing we need to consider is cost. We don't want to overspend. It's an important day, but just one day. It doesn't make sense to us to spend a lot on just one day.
Daycare search is going alright. I've contacted a couple and set up meetings.
Had a great feeling about one daycare, the woman was very friendly and very open to gay parents. She however only has very limited hours available, so likely won't work out.
Thought it was a sign when I found a daycare that was being run in the home my mom grew up in and was my grandma and grandpa's home for a lot of my life. I drove past one day to look at the place only to find that it was abandoned and the notice on the door indicated the occupents had failed to pay their mortgage. :( guess they aren't a great day care!
I'm sure things will work out.
Secretely I want the house to be put up for sale so I can go have a look at it. It makes me lonesome to drive by and see it empty.

This and That

We are back from our vacation. It was a really nice time. I think it's the best cottage vacation I have ever been on. It was actually so relaxing. The food was good, the drinks were good, and the company was fantastic.
We just spent most of the week sitting on the deck of the cottage, chatting, and watching the kids play in the yard. My friend`s youngest boy (7yrs) is in LOVE with Maizey and it is the cutest thing. He would do anything for her, including sharing the corners of his ni-night (old baby blanket for snuggling, he likes the corners best) with her even though it meant she got baby drool on them. Guess what... She liked the corners best too.
Maizey liked to be with the big kids

Bath Time

I think it will probably be the last cottage vacation for a while. Like I have said before, we are hoping to get a trailer before next summer. The only think keeping us from doing that is the fact that we have no vehicle to tow it. We're waiting to see if it will be in our budget to buy an SUV some time this winter. I was actually just talking to my Uncle about it, and he has been doing some research as he is buying a GMC SUV. He says that these days, the gas mileage is just as good as in a medium sized car. I would be the lucky one who would get to drive the new vehicle on a regular basis as I work less than 10 km from home right now.
We are looking forward to being able to go away for a few weeks in the summer to different places.
We definitely want to go back to Sandbanks, and we also want to go back to Algonquin Park. We would love to try Killbear too. My brother and SIL`s family do a trip to Killbear every year for a week. I haven`t in the past been able to coordinate the same week off because Angela`s shitty job wouldn`t let her book vacation too far ahead because it went by seniority. Her better job does the same, but at least we know in November of the year before what weeks she will be approved for, as everyone has to have their requests in by a certain date. So we are hoping to be able to join them next year.
I am thinking as well with a trailer we can do camping earlier and later in the season than with just a tent, as it will have heat that we can use if need be. We could also do cross country trips and camp in other provinces. My grandmother is originally from Nova Scotia, and always talked about it. I would love to see it some time. As well, I could coordinate with my friend Joanna to come with us, because she has several friends in Nova Scotia. Maybe do a trip for a couple weeks out to Alberta to visit my younger half brother. We could stop several places on the way. It would be so nice.

Teeth Finally

What a week it's been. Wow. I can officially say I have the best child ever! No, I REALLY mean it.
July 30, she got her first tooth! Bottom front right. August 2, she got her second tooth, bottom front left... August 5 she got her third tooth, next to front left on the bottom, August 8 - diagnosed with an ear infection - right ear! All of this, and we only had two nights with her waking and crying (infrequently). One night she was up for an hour, finally after tempra, she settled and went back to sleep!
We clued in to the ear infection when she started rubbing her right ear with her arm. She didn't really get many other symptoms.
We took her to the doctor today and he had a look. She was fine when he looked in her left ear, but just bawled when he looked in her right one. She did that crying where they can't catch their breath, OMG - she never cries like that. It broke my heart.
She'll be on her antibiotic for a week.
I have a feeling we'll be welcoming a fourth tooth any day now. Her teething symptoms have flaired again today!
I so so so love this little girl too much to even express.
I feel like I should break into a "Mary-Kathryn Galliger" type monolouge from so and so a movie ... But it's just not coming to me.
